Some of the country’s top personalities in industry, media, and show business graced the occasion teaching the 2,500-strong high school student leaders from all over the country with the needed leadership skills to be successful in the future. This year’s NLTSGO took on the theme “Responding the needs of 21st Century Leadership: Equipping Student-Leaders in Reaching Out to Peers.” The training equipped the student-leaders with basic orientation and competencies in organizing, developing and implementing a school-based peer counseling program to help create a better school environment.Sessions on peer counseling and mentoring included Head Coach of RP Team Chot Reyes, founder of the R.A Gapuz Review Center for nurses Ray Gapuz, and educator Henry Tenedero as speakers. Other speakers include: master trainer Anthony Pangilinan and UP Professor YangkyAgustin. Among the guest performers during socials and break-out sessions were Rachel Alejandro, Nanette Inventor, Jimmy Bondoc, Noel Cabangon, and DepEd youth spokesperson Sam Concepcion. Another highlight of the event was the election of student leaders representing two political parties. Each party will come up with their own platforms and officers.
