The Kundirana, the most famous high school musical group in the Philippines, will stage a major concert in Dagupan City on December 8, 2007 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM. Tentatively set to stage at the Dagupan City People's Astrodome, the event will be organized by the Escuela de Nuestra Señora de La Salette, a De La Salle Supervised School. The Kundirana is scheduled to be in Dagupan City by December 7 to visit La Salette School and join in their Family Day Activities. The group will be headed by the LASSO Supervisor Mr. Ramelle Javier together with the Kundirana Musical Director Dr. Montet Acoymo and the production staff. Kundirana signs their own version of NEXT IN LINE during a press conference at La Salle University-Ozamiz. Kundirana is a nine-member all male singing group of La Salle Green Hills. The word Kundirana is a combination of the Filipino words kundiman and harana, both forms of love songs in Filipino. Musical directors-composers Louie Ocampo, Mel Villena, Archie Castillo and Dingdong Eduque were once Kundirana boys, too. And so is the dean of University of the Philippines School of Music, Ramon Montet Acoymo. These great talents never fail to point out that they learned the rudiments of singing and performing as members of that all-boys glee club, which yearly has a membership of only 12 to 18 (with 9 senior performers) — making the group prestigious, if not elite, since La Salle Green Hills high-school department has a population of only several hundreds. Tickets are initially planned to cost from P50.00 (General Admission) to P5,000. |
