La Salette SSC to hold automated elections for the 3rd time |

UPDATE (March 12, 2010): RESULTS can now be viewed. CLICK HERE . While the rest of the country is keeping its fingers crossed with the forthcoming National elections. Escuela de Nuestra Señora de La Salette, a De La Salle Supervised School, will be having its 3rd Automated Elections this month. The initiative has radically reduced the post-election stress, tension and work as the counting of ballots will be done automatically. Right after the last voter, the results can be viewed, printed, and validated already. Virtual ballots can also be easily printed when a recount is needed. La Salette VP for Academics & Development, Mr. Rex Lor, introduced the idea thinking in mind that it would not just speed up the democratic process but also instill the value of honesty and teach the sacredness of one's right to vote. Mr. Lor stressed: "The on-line voting system does not just teach different applications of Information Technology, but also integrates values important in ensuring a just society. This will teach the students that there are other more efficient alternatives to the traditional manual voting system." Benchmarked from the University of the Philippines Linux Users Group, the on-line voting system is designed to be as user-friendly as possible to ensure that even grade school students can easily use it. It follows a three-step process: Step 1: LOG-IN; Step 2: VOTE; Step 3: CONFIRM VOTE. Students will be able to view the profile of the candidate by way of clicking an icon beside their names. A username and password will also be provided to the students just before the voting starts as the school's official enrolment list will be the basis for the registration. |

La Salle Green Hills Coordinators conducts UBD seminar at La Salette School |
The Academic Coordinators from La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) conducted a seminar on Understanding by Design (UBD) last February 27, 2010 at the Escuela de Nuestra Señora de La Salette (La Salette School), Tapuac, Dagupan City. Entitled “Let’s UBD-ize”, the LSGH UBD Team was led by their Principal and the current La Salle supervisor for La Salette School, Mr. Jose Ramelle E. Javier. Hosted by La Salette School and sponsored by Phoenix Publishing House, Inc., the said seminar is part of a series of workshops originally intended exclusively for La Salette faculty only. Considering the importance and the timeliness of the activity, the administration led by its President, Dr. Lina Galvan-Tan, decided to open the seminar to the public school system as a way of reaching out to the fellow Dagupeños. As a result, sixty six (66) public school teachers benefitted from the La Salette School-sponsored seminar-workshop. |
